Not much to report for this week. Just that I've found a natural replacement for the Gatorade: a brand of coconut water called C2O. Tastes much better than Gatorade and doesn't have artificial anything in it. Turns out it was used in place of IV fluids during WWII, and is still used today in emergency cases in the tropics. The properties closely mimic those of the blood, which is why it works to hydrate efficiently. It is more expensive, which hubby was quick to point out, but I asked him if he'd rather his child have 3 arms or be healthy! :) Of course, I don't really think Gatorade would cause my baby to grow a third arm, but I really don't like all the additives if I can help it. I ran out of my stash of coconut water a couple days ago and have been just drinking water for the most part. It goes right through me; you just know it's not doing anything for real hydration. I'm more thirsty than before and my lips are getting dry, so it's definitely time to stock up on my C2O! I'll be able to stop at the nutrition center this afternoon to get more and thank goodness! For the few days I was drinking it to try it, I noticed a huge difference; I don't pee nearly as often (last night, while just drinking water, I peed 2-3 times per hour), and I don't feel thirsty, which is a sign of dehydration. So I'm going to stick to this stuff, drink a couple a day at least, and get a total of 100+ ounces of fluids in per day.
In other news, I noticed over the past few days that Peanugget's punches and kicks (punches especially) have been getting stronger. Not strong enough to feel from the outside yet (much to hubby's dismay, poor guy), but there is no mistaking what they are. When I say "punches" or "kicks", I'm really just assuming based on the location; if they're low just above the pelvic bone, I say kicks. If they're higher, up near the belly button, they're punches. Either way, the jabs are stronger and for that I am truly grateful and couldn't be more pleased. There isn't a better feeling in the world right now than a happy, moving baby who is getting stronger. Hoping it's a good sign that things are going to be just fine.
My back has been sore the past few days, but you'll find no official complaints here. It probably has more to do with sleeping differently (due to finally getting a body pillow---SO WONDERFUL) and needing a chiropractic adjustment than anything, which I'm thankfully having later this morning.
As for development, I'll skip the estimated weight/length, but it sounds like baby's eyelids and eyebrows should now be completely formed. :) Keep plugging along, little Peanugget! Mommy and Daddy love you!!
