As of last night, Sonny is doing very well. His drain was redone a couple days ago; the doctor thought the original one might be kinked and was leaking around the insertion point on the belly and he wanted to try to do a better job. So far, it is looking good. There is hardly any drainage anymore and his tummy looks and feels good. He will continue to have xrays periodically to check his healing progress. It sucks that it will still be several days before we know if the hole is healing itself. But he is making several smaller bits of progress. He wasn't producing much urine and wasn't pooping nearly as much as they wanted him to; last night, HE POOPED!! And boy did he poop...there was a lot there for a 2 lb. baby!! And Dr. Katie told me she didn't know what we said to him the night before, but whatever it was, we scared the pee right out of him because he's been peeing up a storm since! His bilirubin has come way down since birth, went back up a little bit after his blood transfusion the other day, but he should be coming off the lights either today or tomorrow. The transfusion also helped with his blood pressure, which was low, and he has been taken off the medication to help with that; he is also being weaned off the morphine drip from after surgery and is regaining his feisty attitude. Yesterday was the first time he has moved since Sunday, when they sedated him before surgery, and it felt really good to see it.

Daddy tickling Sonny's feet
I thank you all for your love and support. Sonny is lucky to have so many wonderful people rooting for him and I'm lucky to have such great friends and family.
Until next time...
